The Third World War continues to spread across the globe with escalations and expansions in both international and non-international armed conflict ("NIACs") involving nation-states and non-state armed groups ("NSAGs").

Over the last generation the runaway expansion of NIACs is clear and unmistakable proof of concept behind the complimentary Age of Militants white paper from the Company.

A recent 2024 opinion paper released by the International Committee of the Red Cross ("ICRC") delivers sharp and relevant figures:

There are over 120 armed conflicts around the world, which involve over 60 states and 120 NSAGs. The ICRC has noted that the number of armed conflicts has steadily risen since the 1990s; worryingly, since the year 2000, the number of NIACs has tripled from under 30 to around 100; the number of IACs is also on the rise.

MITI include sociopolitical, economic, and military developments with propensity to affect and/or increase liabilities within a theater of operations in the Third World War. Recent examples include the unity agreement between Palestinian factions, brokered by the People's Republic of China, to form an interim national reconciliation government:

Mustafa Barghouti, secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative, one of the 14 factions to sign the accord, told Al Jazeera the agreement goes “much further” than any other reached in recent years.

He said its four main elements are the establishment of an interim national unity government, the formation of unified Palestinian leadership ahead of future elections, the free election of a new Palestinian National Council, and a general declaration of unity in the face of ongoing Israeli attacks.

An additional example of MITI covered in the last War Briefing is the recent refusal of the Russian Federation to rule out direct negotiations with the Zelensky regime in Ukraine:

Answering a question from journalists on Thursday about whether Moscow is ready to negotiate with Kiev even under Zelensky's rule, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said: "The issue is not simple. From a legal point of view, this problem is on the agenda, but from a practical point of view, we are open to achieving our goals through negotiations, so different options are possible here."

Among the obstacles that need to be overcome to start negotiations, the Kremlin spokesman pointed to Zelensky's loss of legitimacy as president. "In addition to the general problem with legitimacy, there is also the problem of the de facto legislative ban on any contacts and negotiations with the Russian side, all these bans are in effect," Peskov noted.

"Therefore, there is still a lot to be clarified here and we still need to hear some explanations," the president's press secretary added.

MITI are determined from Company review of media reports, official statements and/or claims of responsibility, live geospatial data, analysis of objectively observable trends, and in certain instances intelligence from emplaced Hagakure Kan assets.

A recent ambush in Mali of Wagner Group and consequence casualties including the death of Nikita Fedyanin, administrator of the Grey Zone Telegram channel monitored by the Company, is an example of a potential MITI event related to the African theater as the growing Islamic insurgencies cross borders.

Potential large-scale Israeli attack into Lebanon is currently anticipated in the Middle Eastern theater, combined with calls by the United States and Germany for their citizens to leave Lebanon, constitute MITI events.

Risk Division will release an Advisory to investors, partners, clients, and members of the public on commencement of any large scale ground invasion into Lebanon.
