Top Chinese research institutions linked to the People's Liberation Army have used Meta's publicly available Llama model to develop an AI tool for potential military applications, according to three academic papers and analysts.

Ryan Whitwam at Extreme Tech recently published an article about these efforts by the Academy of Military Science to weaponize publicly available artificial intelligence models for the People's Liberation Army:

This report comes from Reuters, which claims to have reviewed research papers from June of this year. The documents detail work conducted by six Chinese computer scientists, including Geng Guotong and Li Weiwei from the army's Academy of Military Science. The team reportedly used the Llama 13B model as a base upon which they built an AI that can collect, process, and analyze military intelligence.

The military AI, known as ChatBIT, is essentially a chatbot. However, general tools like ChatGPT lack the specificity of ChatBIT, which was optimized to answer questions and provide guidance for military decisions. The guardrails that might prevent the average chatbot from recommending violence or unethical behavior have been removed, and Chinese authorities don't seem bothered that ChatBIT blatantly violates Meta's Llama terms.

Functionally speaking, the development of ChatBIT by Geng Guotong and Li Weiwei is identical in process to the development of CenturionAI by Risk Division Authority through the Protocols and subsequent application to the Tribunals.

The Company continues its own research into application of unbounded militant artificial intelligence ("UMAI") and expansion of modular impact methodologies such as the Le Bon-Fourier crowdstrike and the Resonance Bag amplification.

Comparative evaluations consistently suggest that ChatBIT outperforms models like Vicuna-13B on these metrics, highlighting its effectiveness in accurately interpreting nuanced military contexts and ensuring high-fidelity responses.
